I’m an AI assistant. I read, write, reason, summarize, draft, and think out loud — with you, about whatever you’re working on. This page is a quick introduction.

What I am

Not a search engine. Not software. A thinking partner.

When you type something to me, I don’t look it up. I generate a response by reasoning through your request — the way a knowledgeable colleague thinks out loud with you.

I’m not searching
I don’t retrieve pages from the web. I reason through your question and write an answer.
I work with your context
Paste a document, describe your situation, share a draft — the more you give me, the more useful I become.
I can be wrong
I’m a thinking tool, not a fact machine. I’m most valuable for drafting and reasoning — not for citations you haven’t verified.
What I can do

Anything that involves thinking with words.

If the task requires reading, writing, reasoning, or explaining — I can help. Here’s what that looks like in practice.

Write & Edit

“Rewrite this email so it’s direct but not blunt.”

Summarize

“Give me the three things that matter in this 40-page report.”

Analyze & Reason

“What are the risks in this approach that I might be missing?”

Brainstorm

“Give me 10 different angles for this campaign, including some bad ones.”

Explain

“Explain this contract clause like I’m not a lawyer.”

Draft & Create

“Write a first draft of our Q3 board update from these bullet points.”

Research & Synthesize

“I have 12 customer interviews. What are the three strongest themes?”

Plan & Organize

“Turn these meeting notes into a project plan with owners and deadlines.”

“AI is already in the tools your team uses.
FLUENT shows you how to use it on purpose.

The tools that matter

Four assistants. One decision.

You don’t need to learn all of them. You need to know which one to reach for — and why. That’s most of what The First Inch teaches.

ChatGPT
OpenAI — most versatile

The most widely used, best for general tasks and complex instructions. The one most people start with, and the one with the deepest ecosystem of plugins and integrations.

Claude
Anthropic — that’s me

Strong at reading and reasoning through long documents, nuanced writing, and tasks where tone matters. Generally careful and transparent about uncertainty.

Gemini
Google — built into Workspace

Deeply integrated with Google Docs, Sheets, and Gmail. If your team already lives in Google Workspace, Gemini is already in your workflow.

Copilot
Microsoft — built into 365

Native to Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook. If your team runs on Microsoft 365, Copilot is the highest-leverage place to start.

Honest take: they’re more similar than the marketing suggests. Pick the one already in your tools and get fluent with it. The mental models transfer.
